Terms of Service

Effective date: [DATE] · outpostfleet.com
Starter template — not legal advice. This is a reasonable starting point for a small SaaS, but you should have a lawyer review and adapt it (governing law, liability caps, and consumer-protection specifics vary by state) before you rely on it with paying customers. Replace every [bracketed] placeholder.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Outpost ("Outpost," "we," "us"), an offline-first operations and maintenance application provided by [Legal entity name] at outpostfleet.com and its subdomains (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Outpost lets operators track equipment status, inspections, work orders, inventory, and crew, with offline-first synchronization. We may add, change, or remove features over time. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

2. Accounts & eligibility

You must provide accurate account information and are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your credentials secure. You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract. An organization owner is responsible for the users they invite.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service — including attempting to breach security, access data that isn't yours, reverse-engineer the Service, resell it without permission, or use it to store unlawful content. You are responsible for your data and for complying with laws that apply to your operation (including safety and record-keeping requirements).

4. Your data

You retain ownership of the data you enter ("Customer Data"). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display Customer Data solely to provide and improve the Service. You can export your data at any time (CSV export is built in), and your data remains readable to you even if your subscription lapses. Our handling of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Subscriptions, fees & billing

6. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties (e.g., Google Firebase for infrastructure and Stripe for payments). Your use may also be subject to their terms. We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

7. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, and content (excluding Customer Data), is owned by us and protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service per these Terms.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Outpost is a record-keeping and workflow tool; it does not replace your own safety judgment, inspections, or legal/regulatory obligations. You are solely responsible for decisions made using the Service.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the [12] months before the claim.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or to protect the Service. On termination you may export your data for a reasonable period.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms; we'll post the new version here and update the effective date, and for material changes we'll make reasonable efforts to notify you. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of [State], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the courts located in [County, State], unless otherwise required by law.
